Philip Mease, MD

Dr. Philip Mease is a frequent author of many clinical guidelines recommended by the American College of Rheumatology. He is also a leading expert in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and axial spondyloarthritis (AxSpA), ranked the most published worldwide in PsA and 12th in AxSpA over the past decade by Expertscape. He is the Director of Rheumatology Research at Providence/Swedish Health and a Clinical Professor at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Mease holds degrees from Stanford University and completed his residency and fellowship at UW.
His research spans PsA, spondyloarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and fibromyalgia, focusing on disease mechanisms and emerging therapies. He authored over 660 journal articles and is known for his influential 2000 Lancet paper on anti-TNF therapy in PsA.
